Gulfport’s annual Doggie Halloween Party and Costume Contest will be held on Wednesday, October 31st from 6:00-10:00 p.m. The location of the event this year is the Art Village Courtyard at the corner of Beach Blvd. and 29th Ave. South. All are invited, including those without a pet who would like to enjoy the show. All dogs must be on leashes and are welcome with or without a costume. The contest will begin at about 7:30 p.m. at the Courtyard stage. Dogs will be judged in four categories: Small Dogs, Medium Dogs (20 to 40 lbs.), and Large Dogs. Prizes will be awarded to first, second and third place in each size category. Best of show will be judged from among the three first place winners. Treats will be on hand for all dogs in attendance.
This quirky and informal event is always a fun and popular gathering. Food and drink specials will be available during the evening from T & Me Tea Company and Yummy’s Casual Café in the Courtyard. Local merchants and residents are encouraged to donate prizes for the event. This is a family-friendly and free event. This was a wonderful event last year. Well-organized, delightful to watch and fun for pets and people. My elderly poodle (who dressed as a Maine Lobster) is no longer with me but I will be there to watch and enjoy all the creative costumes.
