Welcome back, Patch Blogger!

2nd Annual Circle of Friends Meeting is Tuesday February 19 at 7 p.m.

The Circle of Friends is now beginning its third year. We had a very good 2012 and have wonderful programs and projects upcoming in 2013.

This is an invitation for you to join us at our 2nd Annual Meeting on February 19th at 7 PM at the Gulfport Library, 5501 28th Ave. S. We are delighted that Peter Kageyama, the internationally recognized expert on community development and grassroots engagement, will be our featured speaker.  Peter is the locally-based award-winning author of  For the Love of Cities.  He has spoken around the world about bottom up community development and the way ordinary yet amazing people are making change. We think Peter will provide an exciting evening filled with ideas about what makes for lovable cities and how even a small group of individuals can make a major impact in the cities they love.

At the annual meeting we will officially launch our newest project, the Gulfport Library Reading Garden. We will have sketches of the proposed garden at the meeting and landscape architect, Christopher Ross, will be present to walk us through the garden space. We will also announce opportunities for members and others to help in making the Reading Garden a reality.

We thank you for your support and very much hope to see you on Tuesday,February 19.   Please let us know if you can attend by sending an email to David Mather, library administrator, at dmather@mygulfport.us or by phoning the library at (727) 893-1074.
